BIBS stands for Built-In Breathing System. You wear a mask with two lines: one delivers oxygen, the other carries your exhaled air out of the chamber. So you breathe the oxygen directly, the chamber air stays fresher, and less oxygen builds up inside. On SkelundTech hard-shell chambers BIBS comes with the optional 20L all-in-one unit, which doubles the oxygen output of the standard 10L unit.

What is BIBS?
Under 60 seconds: what BIBS stands for, how the two-line mask works, and how the 20L unit compares with the 10L unit.
What BIBS stands for
BIBS is short for Built-In Breathing System. In a hyperbaric chamber it lets the user breathe oxygen — or another specified breathing gas — through a dedicated mask and hoses, rather than from the chamber air.
How the mask works
You wear a mask with two lines. One delivers oxygen. The other carries your exhaled air out of the chamber (an "overboard dump"). Three things follow: you breathe the oxygen directly; the chamber air stays fresher; and less oxygen builds up inside the cabin.

Our BIBS
SkelundTech's BIBS has an oxygen supply line in and an exhaust line out. With one switch it changes to standard oxygen mode, so the same chamber can run either way.
20L vs 10L all-in-one
Every SkelundTech hard-shell chamber ships with the 10L all-in-one main unit: one 10L oxygen concentrator and two air compressors, with air conditioning, in one cabinet. The optional 20L all-in-one unit replaces it and adds BIBS: two 10L oxygen concentrators and three air compressors. So the 20L unit doubles the oxygen output — and with BIBS, every breath comes from the supply line, so that extra flow matters, especially at higher pressure.

Planning for it
- The 20L unit draws more current — 25 A at 110 V or 13 A at 220 V — so decide before the electrician plans the circuit.
- BIBS is optional on LUMEN, VISTA, ARC, ORION and ORION COMPACT.
- The 93% figure describes the concentrator supply. It is not the oxygen level at the mask and not the oxygen level of the chamber air.
- SkelundTech describes equipment and makes no medical claims; requirements for operating a chamber vary by country.
Questions
Is BIBS standard on SkelundTech chambers?
No. BIBS comes with the optional 20L all-in-one unit, which replaces the standard 10L unit. It is available on all five hard-shell models.
Can the chamber still be used without the mask?
Yes. Our BIBS switches to standard oxygen mode with one switch.
Does BIBS change the power requirement?
Yes. The 20L unit needs 2,700 W / 25 A at 110 V or 2,500 W / 13 A at 220 V, against 2,000 W / 20 A or 1,500 W / 8 A for the 10L unit.
